Being raised on a strict diet of books certainly has its benefits. A childhood reading regimen requiring the completion of at least three books a week transformed a young bookworm into a master wordsmith. And, though she may never have written a book in her life, Liz Bollinger is still an accomplished author with a considerable body of work.

Her copy writing slogans from Things Remembered, Pizza Hut and Checkers/Rally’s are eye-catching, creative and serve as a great complement to graphics and photos. Her work isn’t just easy on the eyes; it’s great on the ears, too. Bollinger’s TV news scripts have been broadcast throughout the streets of Cleveland, the farms of Toledo, Ohio and the mountains of Oak Hill, W. Va.

A woman who grew up feasting on books must, of course, write for the stomach, so Bollinger created restaurant write-ups for coupon books like the Entertainment Dining Club and the Our Town and All-Around and Presentations Dining Directories.

Though her excessive reading made her into a great writer, too much of anything will, inevitably, cause some problems. Bollinger’s biggest challenge is that she can’t read anything without a red pen in hand, scanning for errors that may have been overlooked upon first glance.

The upside is that her work is always clean of mistakes. The downside is that her fingers are usually dirty from red ink.

Despite those red fingers, Bollinger continues to be coveted by employers large and small, public and private for her ability to always find the write words at the right times.

You could say her business has gone to the dogs and she wouldn’t be insulted. That’s because Summer Taylor’s dogs are her inspiration and the face of her company, Good Dog/Bad Dog Creative Design, Inc..

When Taylor decided to start her own business in 2004, she knew that completing any design job would be a walk in the park compared to dealing with Marshall’s antics. Marshall, a Lab/Boxer mix, is the “Bad Dog” whose idea of idea of being creative is figuring out the next best way to ruin Taylor’s furniture.

Marshall is the antithesis of German Shepherd Raley, Taylor’s “Good Dog.” Raley’s creativity is highlighted daily as she finds new ways to remain calm while surrounded by chaos (usually created by Marshall). She is the company’s source of peace and tranquility.

Though Marshall and Raley know her as their creative canine controller, everyone else knows Summer as their great graphics guru. As head of Good Dog/Bad Dog Creative Design, Summer designs web sites, brochures, business cards, logos, presentations, display graphics, invitations, newsletters and a variety of other marketing pieces.

Her design skills were mastered during years of experience in the dog-eat-dog corporate world. That’s where she fetched numerous accolades for working well under pressure and being inventive in the confines of a tight budget. Now, to stay ahead of the ever-growing pack of graphic designers that are on her tail, Summer continues her studies into the trends and technology of both graphic and web design.

By unleashing creative design on small businesses and large corporations, Summer Taylor is breeding great success at Good Dog/Bad Dog Creative Design.

Who knew working like a dog could be so much fun?
